Organization Overview
Dora’s Dawgs & Katz (DDK) is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit animal rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs and cats in the greater Houston area. Based in Porter, Texas, DDK provides temporary shelter, medical care, rehabilitation, and placement into loving forever homes for animals in need.
Our mission is rooted in compassion and community. We believe every animal deserves a second chance — and we work tirelessly to ensure that no dog or cat is left behind due to illness, age, or circumstance. In addition to rescue operations, we promote responsible pet ownership through public outreach, adoption events, and low-cost spay/neuter partnerships.
Each year, DDK rescues and rehomes hundreds of animals, thanks to a growing network of fosters, volunteers, donors, and community partners. Our organization survives solely on public donations, grants, and local support, and we are committed to financial transparency and accountability in all we do.
