Gonzalo Echeverria, McCord Development’s Generation Park, Director of Design & Planning. Highlights from the presentation include:

  • Generation Park continues to build on surrounding roads & neighborhoods.
  • 2022 developments include a park on the South with fishing available and extending the parks on the East to provide parks in the area and storm water relied.
  • Generation Park West will grow to include research facilities, manufacturing, production, entertainment & sports, health life science and recreation.
  • Plans for the new Trail Park Network system will become the backbone of the community. “Those visiting GP will be able to hop on the trail and it will take them wherever they will go.”
  • The “15 min” surrounding city will provide connectivity for the Summer Creek residents.

Melissa Gonzalez, Lone Star College, President. Highlights from the presentation include:

  • As president of LoneStar and a Fall Creek resident, Gonzalez is an advocate for education in the community.
  • LoneStar is now offering 3 bachelor degrees (shoutout Senator Crenshaw for helping with this!) in Nursing, Applied Technology in Cybersecurity and Applied Science in Energy, Manufacturing and Trades Management.
  • There are sponsorship opportunities and scholarships available so that money is not a barrier for future students.
  • There is a new 6-month laptop lending initiative for students
  • “We love being able to live here, work here & play here. We can also get our education here.”

Reese McCall, PGA, Golf Club of Houston, General Manager. Highlights from the presentation include:

  • Despite the pandemic, golfing rates across the country has spiked in the past 16 months with a 30% increase in the Lake Houston Area.
  • Hosting the US Open for 17 years is a huge part in the Golf Clubs of Houston’s history. But they have had time to transition their business model in the past few years to focus on the local members.

  • State of the art fitness center will break ground in the next 3 months.

Brent McDonald, Summer Creek High School, Principal. Highlights from the presentation include:

  • Entering 5th year of being the principal at Summer Creek. When he started, there were 2100 kids, they are now teaching 3100.
  • About 95% of kids will be attending school on campus next year
  • They had 15 national merit scholarships in the last two years alone. Most kids in Humble ISD taking dual credit courses over the summer.
  • Summer Creek is now working on tiny home #3 for a homeless veteran.
  • Both the theatre and sports programs are doing well.
  • Every student will meet with counselors at least twice a year for personalized counseling. “Go bulldogs! The Creek is on the rise”

Brook Baugh, Partnership Lake Houston Golf Classic & Party on the Green

  • The Golf Classic is BACK! Presented by HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood, the event will be held on Monday, September 13th at the Clubs of Kingwood. There will be a shotgun start at 11:00 am then a players buffet, happy hour & awards at 5:30pm. Tickets can be found at LakeHouston.org.
  • Party on the Green sponsored by First Financial Bank will be held at the Clubs of Kingwood on September 25th at 6:30pm. This will include the second annual cornhole and axe throwing tournament. Team and tickets can be found at LakeHouston.org.
