Rep. Dan Huberty, House of Representatives – District 127. Highlights from the presentation include:

  • Working on redistricting that is very important & is done every 10 years when the census comes out.
  • Having to redraw the Texas House Maps, Congressional Maps, Senate Maps, & the State Board of Education Maps.
  • Due to population growth, most districts changed down south, but District 127 stayed intact.
  • Working with additional funding that recently came in, $16 billion dollars from the federal government to help with infrastructure.

  • Memorial Herman Hospital last search shows this is the worst we have faced during this pandemic but is going in a positive direction.
  • The younger population is higher with Covid cases than the older population.
  • Harris County is about 66% full vaccinated and Lake Houston is about 6% behind Harris County.

  • Lance LaCour has over 30 years of experience as an economic developer and has been very successful in Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama.
  • He has also been a certified economical developer for the past 9 years and is ready to contribute to the Lake Houston area.
  • He has also helped create and retain over 29,000 jobs. Has been an advocate for numerous published infrastructures, and educational infrastructure projects.

  • Including Kids is hosting a tennis tournament on November 2, 2021. They are looking for more players & sponsors to help with this event to give back to Including Kids. (IncludingKids.org)
  • Family Promise is hosting an event called “Better Together Round Table” in January.
  • The YMCA is hosting its annual event called “Dancing for A Cause” on November 18, 2021. They want everyone in the community to participate or buy a table to cheer everyone on.

  • Responsive Ed is a paired organization with iSchool High School & helps with managing to grow most charter schools in Texas.
  •  iSchool is one of the largest charter school networks throughout the State of Texas.
  • Have been in the education industry for the past 22 years and has over 75 campuses between the State of Texas & Arkansas. They also have 16 more campuses in the Greater Houston area.

Will Faker, Atascocita High School, Principal. Highlights from the presentation include:

  • Atascocita High School just finished the add-on construction of their advanced academic wing. This includes 20 new traditional classrooms, 3 CTE classrooms, and an additional gym.
  • Every classroom is equipped with a dedicated google chrome book for children to learn more.
  • They have partnered with the University of Texas, so the students can start taking college courses to get them prepared for the future.
